I'm buying a laptop but I need a fast internet for job communication. I know broadband is supposed to be fast, but is a 56k modem fast too? I have a 56k modem in this pc I use at home on dial up, but I when I connect it says 19.2kbps, it never gets higher. If a laptop comes with a 56k modem does that mean It will be double time than dial up at home?

I have AT&T U-Verse, and we just got a new Sharp 32" HDTV, but we aren't subscribed to the $10 a month for all the HD channels that broadcast in the higher quality HD. But someone mentioned some sort of antenna that can receive that HD quality for free and all you need to do is buy the antenna and hook it up. I'm not sure how it works and it seems too good to be true. Can someone explain?

I recently bought a 37" Vizio LCD HDTV. However, when I press info to see the show it says the show then 480i SD. But I have an HD Cable Box and everything. How do I make it so I have an HD picture instead of an SD picture?

I am planning on getting both a PDA (Pocket PC) and a Laptop.

My understanding is that a big part of this choice has to do w the Wireless Broadband Provider - Sprint, Verizon, Cingular, etc.

I have been told that each provider has its own 'hardware' - towers, etc. So, signal strength varies from one carrier to another. That is a big deal.

How do I determine which providers are better and which are worse in my area ? (North Metro Atlanta - 30076).

I don't travel very often, and if I do, it's to other larger cities in the US.

99% of my connection time will be in/around Atlanta.

I have also been told that I should / have to get both of these from the same provider (the PDA service and the Wireless Broadband service for my laptop). The PDA will be my cell phone, also.

Please enlighten me.

Sony Ericsson website and the Tennis Magazine says Fox Sports Network (FSN is channel 39 in Miami) is covering this tennis tournament. However, on Thursday it was actually on channel 38 and today, Friday, it is not on 38 or 39. Does anyone know if it got switched to a different cable channel? Is it Sony Ericsson or Atlantic Broadband Cable who is disorganized and screwing this up?

I am planning on moving to an apartment using my PC as my entertainment center. Using my TV I would like to hook up my Wii and an HDTV tuner. I am assuming that I would need a specific video card to do this. What video card (or features in one) would I need? How can I get the HDTV signal (what type of tuner should I get?) to play on my monitor (my monitor is capable of displaying a HD signal).

I want good picture quality and decent sound from the on board speakers. 32 inch to 36 inch. I don't need prices but that would help. I WILL be going to best buy to buy it, and they have a bunch of great deals going on for 32 inch HDTV's. I was thinking samsung. Any complaints?

I have a 37 inch Vizio HDTV and an S-cable. I've connected the computer to the TV via S-cable but there are no S-video inputs on the TV menu. I have component 1 component 2, HDMI 1 and 2, AV 1 and 2 but nothing for S-video. Can someone please help?

I really wanted to use magicJack because it seems easy enough and I've heard so much about it, but it's been over 1 to 2 years since they promised to offer the ability to keep your phone number...and they still haven't.

My modem with my broadband internet emits a very high frequency which is very disturbing to my girlfriend who is sensitive to high frequencies since she suffered a brain injury several years ago.

Dial up does not bother her, but the broadband does, it nearly drives her mad and she must leave the room.

Will placing the modem in a lead lined film pouch block the frequency?

When plugging an old video game system with the usual red,white,and yellow cables into back of a hdtv, there's no signal from the console to the tv. Why is that? Dreamcast and Xbox360 work fine but connecting Nintendo64 or Genesis/Megadrive it's just black.
