How Do You Conect a Laptop to a Hdtv Through an HDMI?

by DTV Star on December 26, 2010

I have an ENVY13 laptop running Windows 7 with a HDMI on the side, when i plug it in to my hdtv nothing happens. I have tried changing the Projector settings but can't get anything to work. Any help would be awesome.

You need to press a button combination called “switch screen image” according to the instruction manual I downloaded:

It looks to me like the combo is Fn+F4, so hold down the Function key before hitting the F4 key at the top of the keyboard. This should cycle between all the different video output modes:

It looks like you have installed the drivers for HDMI port. Try to install it and then plug in to the HDTV.

Step 1: Shut down both your laptop and HDTV. This process will help reformat the existing setting between the two devices that may obstruct their connection.
Step 2: Attach the HDMI cable to your laptop’s output port. Make sure the cable is firmly and securely attached to your laptop, and be cautious not to bend or break any of the adapter’s connector pins.
Step 3: Hook up the end part of the HDMI cable adapter to the input port of the TV. Make certain that you have securely but gently attached the two devices together.
Step 4: Turn on the TV set and allow it to power up. This process will allow the laptop to identify and be familiarized with the signal sent by the HDTV.
Step 5: Start the laptop and let it boot up completely. Shift from laptop monitor to HDTV screen by using the function keys on your laptop’s keyboard. Normally this is done by holding down the key marked “Fn” and the function key “F4″ at the same time. This will let you view your laptop’s desktop features right on your HDTV screen.
