How to Get Audio to Work From Computer to Hdtv?

by DTV Star on January 7, 2011

Hi, I want to connect my computer to the hdtv, and the video shows, but there is no audio. I know that the HDMI cable also streams audio, but the computer only shows video, because of the graphics card is seperate from the sound card.. Do you know how I can get my audio port to connect and play with the HDMI section at the same time?

You are correct that HDMI carries audio and video. To that end, you may have to configure your PC to output the audio through the HDMI input. Depending on the brand of the PC or what software is installed there could be a variety of configurations.

Also, keep in mind that it might have something to do with HDCP (High Definition Content Protection.) This is a way that manufacturers copywright the signal passing through the cable. If your PC has it and the TV doesn’t, it may not send all the data, or any at all. The same goes for if the TV supports HDCP and the laptop doesn’t. This should be detailed in the instructions for either.
