This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J8240105,) presents the findings of the survey of corporate usage trends and users' demand in the Japan voice over IP (VoIP) services market. The findings of the survey reported in this study is based on the 2008 Japan Communications Service Corporate Users Demand Survey (Japan WAN Managers Survey 2008). Japan VoIP service market is growing steadily, particularly; its 0AB-J IP telephony service segment has been registering rapid growth. In spite of this, we can expect growth in the corporate VoIP service segment in the future. Corporate users are perceiving VoIP service as an application platform and not only as a method to cut costs.
"To maintain strong growth in the VoIP service market, it is necessary to appeal to users by highlighting the applications added to the VoIP service, improve the quality of after-support provided to corporate users by service providers, and guarantee VoIP security," analyzes Takashi Manabe, research manager, Communications, IDC Japan.
